    The Secretariat is provided by the Climate Change & (In)Security Project (CCIP), a collaboration between the University of Oxford and the British Army’s Centre for Historical and Armed Conflict Research (CHACR). With a focus on the UK and its interests, CCIP channels the highest quality research into decision making, with a view to supporting climate security policy and action. The Secretariat provision is coordinated by Louise Selisny, a University of Oxford Research Affiliate and Expert Participant of the International Military Council on Climate Security (IMCCS).

    The Climate Change & (In)Security Project Secretariat provision is supported by an Advisory Board. Chair and Military Lead, Lieutenant General (ret) Richard Nugee, is the UK Ministry of Defence Climate Change and Sustainability Non-Executive Director, and author of the 2021 ‘Climate and Sustainability Report’. Co-Chair and Academic Lead, Dr Tim Clack, is a University of Oxford Research Fellow that has held a number of specialist advisory roles across government. Policy Lead, Mr Tom Fletcher, is Principal of Hertford College, Oxford and former foreign policy adviser to three UK Prime Ministers.

    The Climate Change & (In)Security Project collaborates with global organisations and expert individuals. In addition to providing the Secretariat to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Climate and Security, CCIP is an Institutional Partner of the International Military Council on Climate Security, and part of the agricultural security research project coordinated by Princeton University’s Global Systemic Risk Group. CCIP produces a number of outputs focused on supporting policy development, including bespoke briefs, research articles, and an annual conference that brings together leading subject matter experts.

    The Climate Change & (In)Security Project team combines a comprehensive range of expertise and skill sets. Serving and former military members: Tristan Burwell, Major Matt Stott, and Ensign Logan Williams. Crown and Civil Servants: Ziya Meral (CHACR), Matt Ince (UK MOD), and Ella Flemming (DSTL). Academics: Dr Duncan Depledge (Loughborough University), Dr Alex Tasker (UCL), and (Intern) Nolwen Prince (University of Oxford). Practitioner experience is added by: Thammy Evans (Atlantic Council), Katarina Kertysova (European Leadership Network), Alistair Harris (ARK), Elizabeth Boulton (Destination Safe Earth), and Chris Hodder (UN).
